The Alabama District Export Council (DEC) is a volunteer organization drawn from Alabama businesses, governmental agencies and non-profits. The DEC members have in-depth knowledge and experience in international business, and are available as a unique source of professional advice to help other Alabama firms compete globally.
The Alabama DEC works closely with the U.S. Export Assistance Center, in Birmingham, part of of the U.S. Commercial Service, to accomplish its mission through:
- Counseling, educating and mentoring local businesses;
- Identifying key issues affecting U.S. and Alabama industry competitiveness in the global marketplace;
- Enhancing the efforts of the Birmingham U. S. Export Assistance Center.

DEC Members have a wide range of international business expertise. Our members each have special trade knowledge they are eager to share to help businesses develop export sales. DEC members are also available to speak on international trade topics to audiences of business executives and concerned citizens.
Export-U.com is the DEC’s massive free online export training and resource website. It has 20 export Webinars on practical topics like “How to find overseas customers?” “How to get paid?” and “How to manage international business risk?” It’s Exporter’s Resource Database offers tons of information, including over 200 downloadable publications, and an enormous cash of other trade-related information.
